My schedule was fully booked… but when this woman reached out to me, saying she was just diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer, was having a double mastectomy at the end of the month, and wanted to capture images of her breasts and body before the surgery… as well as some regular images of her for her friends and family… well, I knew I HAD to squeeze her into the schedule asap.
This photoshoot was so emotional for both of us. To have her trust me with the experience… and to be able to show her how strong and beautiful she is… it was incredible.
People often ask me why someone would want to do a boudoir photoshoot. There are so many reasons. I’ve had women on a journey to reclaim themselves after devoting years to their husband and children. Women who have been through abuse and want to look at themselves in a new way. Women who have been working out or lost a bunch of weight and are feeling the best they’ve ever felt about their body, and want to capture themselves at this moment in time. Women who are getting married and want to create an album as a special, intimate gift for their husband-to-be. Women who want to do a boudoir session because it’s just so darn fun and empowering! But this… this one was so special, powerful, and emotional.
